Way back in 2011, I found this spot south of Monterey, CA. The photos that resulted were some of my all-time favorites. However, in a tragic and ironic twist of fate, my hard drive crashed on me. Despite being a hard drive failure analysis engineer at the time, I didn’t have them backed up, and they were gone for good.

Fast forward several years, and I’m again living in California. Not nearly as close to Monterey, but close enough for a weekend trip. So, having no other July 4th plans, I loaded up and headed north. I of course took lots of photos, but the main attraction was recreating the original shot from 2011. The atmospherics weren’t ideal, and the sun angle wasn’t great, but I still managed to get a few good snaps. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the results, and finally feel like I can put this adventure to rest.
